What we do

We focus on activities that bring people together and improve the quality of life in Farsley by:

  • Creating Community Events: Hosting events and initiatives that encourage connection and fun for residents of all ages.
  • Supporting Local Initiatives: Providing resources and support to help residents work together toward shared community goals.
  • Responding to Local Needs: Acting on the unique needs of our community to create lasting, meaningful impact.

By fostering a vibrant community, we aim to make Farsley a better place to live, work, and play for everyone.

Project Farsley

Have you seen the Farsley mural? This was organised by Project Farsley – a group of volunteers bringing art projects and other events to the village.

You may have noticed some of their other projects including film nights, sketchbook club, bringing the sheep sculptures to Sunny Bank Mills and the annual Farsley Yard Sale Trail.

Friends of Hainsworth Park

Formed after a successful application for a “Pocket Park” grant in 2019, the Friends of Hainsworth Park added additional play equipment and a new path. This was a combination of crowdfunding from our local community, Council funding and the Pocket Park grant. The work was completed in 2022.

We are now looking to make further improvements to the park through volunteering, fundraising, grants and local business support.

Farsley Community Orchard

Farsley Community Orchard was planted in 2016 by a group of volunteers and local
people. The orchard is on public land owned by Leeds City Council and we have
worked with them to improve the space in a safe and accessible way.

We now have over 40 fruit trees, spring bulbs, an edible hedgerow and benches for seating. A small group of volunteers maintains the orchard space by weeding, mulching, pruning and planting. Over the years we have run various community events including tree planting, grafting workshops, the famous festival smoothie bike, the annual apple juicing at the farmers market and events for local scouting groups.

We welcome enquiries from anyone looking to volunteer with us, even if just as a one-off – no skills or knowledge required. The orchard is particularly beautiful to visit in the spring when the blossom is out, maybe stay for a picnic or scavenger hunt? In the autumn, you are invited to pick an apple or pear to enjoy, but please wait until they are ready. Looking to the future, we are exploring ways to increase habitats and biodiversity.

Farsley Festival

Held in Hainsworth Park, the Farsley Festival is an annual, free, fun-filled family day that brings art, music, and entertainment to the village.
